Alice Ansell Obituary

Alice M. Ansell, of Greenville, Otter Creek Township, passed away at her residence on Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2026. She was 82.

Alice was born on January 9, 1944, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Samuel and Marie (Reigleman) Miller. On May 6, 1967, she married George E. Ansell, and together they shared 58 years of marriage.

In her early years, Alice worked as a nurse’s aide at local nursing homes. After her marriage, she became a homemaker, devoting herself to raising her family and helping on the family farm.

Alice was a very active member of Lifeway Church of the Nazarene in Greenville. She served as the church treasurer, a Sunday school teacher, and faithfully took on many other responsibilities within the church.

She enjoyed quilting and led a ladies’ quilting group. Alice loved watching the Olympics, with a special interest in the curling competition. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed canning the vegetables she raised. In addition, Alice had a special love for cats and a soft heart for caring for them.

Her family was her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Alice enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends, and she always looked forward to keeping in touch with loved ones by telephone.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband, George; 4 daughters, Brenda S. (Ronald) Whetzel, Grove City, Julie Mellott, Greenville, Deborah (William) Davis, and Lori (Joseph) Rogers, Franklin; a brother, Samuel Miller, CA.; 6 grandchildren, Kayla (Eric) Reno, Amanda Whetzel and her companion Jason Aley, Brian Whetzel, Tyler Whetzel, Ashley Davis and Emma Davis and two great grandchildren, Johnathan Aley and Callan Reno.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Ross Mellott, and a brother, George Miller.

The funeral service celebrating the life of Alice will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville, with Pastor John Poling officiating.  She will be laid to rest at the Hadley Cemetery.
