Aleen Danner Obituary

Aleen E. Danner of Greenville, formerly of Fredonia, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at St. Paul’s. She was 94. 

Aleen was born on October 4, 1929, in Kremis (Delaware Township) a daughter of the late George W. and Anna C. (Haas) Heckman, and lived there for 75 years until moving to Greenville (Hempfield Township) in 2005. She married Harry Danner on June 9, 1949. Aleen worked at the Bank in Fredonia for 27 years. After retiring, Harry and Aleen spent the winter months in Bonita Springs, FL, until Harry’s death on March 23, 2005. She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance in Greenville after returning to PA. She had attended St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fredonia for 75 years with Rev. J. Miles Walthour having been her pastor for 40 years.  

Aleen spent time playing with several card clubs as well as bingo. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and exercising with Ron at Ridgewood. She also enjoyed the years they had camping at Rambling Acres. 

She is survived by five children, a son, Daniel (Christine) of Port Huron, MI, daughters Karen Brest of Greenville, Deborah Clark of Fredonia, Kathy Compton (Dave) of Santa Fe, TX, Kimberly Osborn (Douglas) of Atlantic, 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and her best friend since the age of 6, Martha Anderson. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leroy Mowery, who was killed in an automobile accident, brothers Laverne Hause and Roland Heckman, sisters Naomi King and Virginia Blair, brothers-in-law Frank King and James Blair, a grandson Brian Brest and a niece Barbara Blair. 

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Greenville Alliance Church, 63 Conneaut Lake Rd., Greenville with Rev. Julia Fraser, Chaplain at St. Paul’s officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00-11:00 am, the time of service. She will be laid to rest at the Delaware Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the Ridgewood at St. Paul’s, 339 E. Jamestown Road, Greenville, PA 16125
