Madylon Gilson Bromley, Fairview Twp, Fredonia passed away at her residence on Thursday morning, April 5, 2018. She was 75.
Madylon was born in Delaware Twp. on Nov. 20, 1942, a daughter of the late Orval and Alberta (Hittle) Gilson. She was a 1960 graduate of the former Fredonia-Delaware High School. She married John Bromley on August 19, 1961 and he survives. She had been employed for 12 years at the Lakeview High School and then went onto work at the Mercer County Election Office for 15 years. She enjoyed crocheting, painting, making floral arrangements and had a love for music. She had been active in a bowling league at the Celebrity Lanes.
In addition to her husband John, she is survived by three sons, Ronald Bromley of Stoneboro, Dave Bromley and his wife Yvonne of Conneautville and Neal Bromley and his fiancée Stephanie of Fredonia. Grandchildren, Michael Bromley and his wife Jamie, twins, Michele Bromley and Malinda Bromley, Hayley Waddell and her husband Josh, David Bromley, Jr., Torri Bromley and Jonathan Bromley., Great grandchildren, twins, Weston and Reese Bromley, Emma Waddell and Josie Waddell; step grandchildren, Doug Jaskolski and his wife Samantha and Ashley White. Six step great grandchildren. A sister, Sara Patterson and her husband Wayne of Hot Springs, Arkansas, a step sister, Vonna Murrin and her husband Bill of Greenville; a brother Orval Gilson of Mercer and a step brother, Larry Diefenderfer and his wife Carolyn of Alabama. 21 nieces and nephews. Special friends Jane Olson and Joan Patterson and her life long friend, Karen Patterson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step father, Robert Diefenderfer, sisters, Alice Glunt, Betty Wheaton, Margaret Schweikert, Phyllis Redmond and Cathy Amburgey and her brothers, James Gilson and Alfred Gilson.
Madylon was an active member of the Emmanuel Christian Church, Stoneboro and her greatest joy was attending the sporting activities of her sons as they grew up. While working at the Mercer County Courthouse, she belonged to the activities committee and would decorate the courthouse at Christmas and arrange and prepare for the employee picnic in the summer for the county employees.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Emmanuel Christian Church, 4495 Greenville – Sandy lake Road, Stoneboro with the Rev. Tim Clark, pastor of the church officiating, The committal service and interment will follow at the Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia. Family and friends may call at the church on Monday from 2:00 -4:00 and 6:00 – 9:00pm and may share memories and condolences with the family online at www.snyderfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia.
