Lois Franklin Obituary

Lois M. Franklin, formerly of Fredonia passed away at 5:25 pm on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Quality Life Services, Mercer.  She was 94.

Lois was born in Jackson Center, Pa. on April 15, 1924 a daughter of the late William D. and Mary M. (Lowers) Jenkins.  On July 24, 1948 she married Lawrence B. “Ben” Franklin who preceded her in death on November 18, 2000.  She had been employed in her early years at the former Westinghouse, Sharon as a riveter, she then worked at various local restaurants, the Lawson Milk Company and later at the cafeteria of the Mercer County Vo Tech.  Lois’s life was centered around her family where she enjoyed the many family gatherings, BBQ’s or just simply playing cards. She enjoyed being able to share moments with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was an avid baker and often could be found outdoors doing yard work and gardening.  She had attended the Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church and the Jerusalem Christian Church, Greenville.

Lois is survived by her children, Lawrence B. Franklin, Jr. and his partner Michael Anthony of Greenville, Kaye Morris and her husband Richard of Fredonia, Karen McAfoose and her husband Marvin of Jackson Center and Kim Buckley and her husband Gary of Greenville. 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son Danny Franklin; 4 brothers, Clarence “Jake” Jenkins, Harrison “Mike” Jenkins, Gomer Jenkins and Richard “Dick” Jenkins and a great granddaughter.

A Celebration honoring the life of Lois will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, 169 Second Street, Fredonia with John Canon, pastor of the Jerusalem Christian Church officiating.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Friday from 9:30 am till time of service.  Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.snyderfh.com.

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the Lakeview Area Helping Hands Center, 51 Lake Street, Stoneboro, PA. 16153
