L. "Katie" (Hays) Aikens

L. “Katie” Aikens, Greenwood Twp., Cochranton passed away unexpectedly early Friday Morning, March 1, 2019 at her residence.  She was 68.

She was born in Geneva, Pa. on June 8, 1950 a daughter of the late Samuel and Leora (Turner) Hays.  Katie had retired from Labor International Union of North America # 964 following over 25 years of service.  She was an active member of the Lakeland Women’s Pool League and belonged to Pumphouse 45, Hartstown.  She loved the out of doors, taking pride in the maintenance of her lawn and also fishing.  She enjoyed her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.  Katie was always quick to lend a hand when asked to volunteer for local fund raising activities and benefit dinners.

She is survived by two daughters, Angela (Ronald) Krachkowski, Cochranton and Annette House, Atlantic; three grandchildren, Erika Krachkowski, Jarod Krachkowski and Logan Henry.  Her siblings,  Elizabeth (Howard) Woodcock, Meadville, Joyce Hays, North East, Eleanor (Jack) Free, Orangeville, Oh, David (JoAnn) Hays, Meadville, Robert (Marie) Hays, Atlantic and John Hays, Atlantic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Albert Hays, Dale Hays, Richard Hays and James Hays and 2 sisters, Mary Lee Swope and Beverly McCord.

The funeral and committal service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. Larry Miller, pastor of the Faith United Methodist Church officiating.  She will be laid to rest at the Greenfield Cemetery, Atlantic.  Family and friends may call on Tuesday at the funeral home from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and are invited to share condolences and memories online at www.snyderfh.com.
