John W. Long

John W. Long, a resident of Clarion Health Care, Clarion formerly of Franklin, passed away at 10:37 am on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Clarion Hospital.  He was 76.

Born in Franklin, Pa. on April 16, 1943 a son of James H and Margaret K. (Miller) Long.  He had been married to the former Rose Marie Culbertson who had preceded him in death in 2005.  He had been employed by the Polk State School and later with the Salvation Army of Venango County.  John was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War attached to the 43rd Signal Battalion, Company A, 1st Signal Brigade and then finished out his service with the U.S. Army Reserves.

John loved his family life and often spoke about his girls lovingly and with pride.

John is survived by his three daughters, Cindy Long, Franklin, Billie Bushaw, Franklin and Cathy Bechtel, Oil City; a brother Fred (Margaret) Long, Fredonia; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose Marie and an infant brother, James Frederick Long.

Private family services were held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.  John was laid to rest at the Brandon Cemetery, Seneca.
