Jean (Amon) Zimmer

December 12, 1924 ~ August 24, 2018 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Jean Zimmer Obituary

Jean Amon Zimmer, Sandy Lake Twp.  passed from this earth to be with Jesus on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St Pauls Homes in Greenville Pa. She was 93 years old. She died of natural causes.

She treasured her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. We have no doubt she is rejoicing in heaven now.

She was born December 12, 1924 at the Amon Farm on Raymilton Road in Mineral Township, Venango County.

She was the daughter of Homer Perrine Amon and Bernice Barnes Amon.

She attended the Raymilton one room school house for her elementary education and went on to graduate from Sandy Lake High School in the class of 1943.

After graduating high school she was employed during WW II  at the Keystone Order Works of Geneva, Pa. After the war she worked at Ibbs-Packer Oldsmobile in Franklin, Pa. In later years when her children were older she worked at Lakeview School District at Oakview Elementary in Stoneboro, Pa,  in the cafeteria. While she worked there she was lovingly known by many as the "Cookie Lady". She retired in 1988.

She was married to the love of her life, James Brown Zimmer for 64 years. They married on March 16, 1946. He went to heaven Sept 14, 2010.

They worked side by side over the years and built their home on the Franklin Road Sandy Lake, Pa.

Jean lived there until Feb 2016 when she went to reside at St Pauls Homes. She lived at the Heritage and later at the Villas where she passed away.

Together they raised 4 children: Gary Zimmer (Ginger) Sandy Lake, Pa, James (Denny) Zimmer ( Barbara) Sandy Lake, Pa., Michael Zimmer ( Beverly) Polk, Pa,. Janene Minshull (Alan Curtis) Stoneboro, Pa

They had 9 grandchildren: Dana (Zimmer) McDowell (Joel), Priscilla (Zimmer) Wilson (Raymond), James D Zimmer Jr (Susan), Derek Zimmer ( Mandy), Randall Zimmer, Stephanie (Minshull) Mittelmeier, Phillip Minshull, Yana ( Zimmer) Canon, (Alex) and Galia Zimmer

They had 10 great grandchildren: Josh McDowell (Sarah), Zachary McDowell, Madison Zimmer, Roman Mittelmeier, Katie Zimmer, Lauren Zimmer, Ryan Zimmer, Cameron Zimmer Canon, Serozha Canon and Sasha Canon

She also had many Nieces and nephews who she loved.

She loved being a homemaker and loved all of her family beyond words.She loved being a mother, an aunt and a Grandma.

Jean was a member of North Sandy Presbyterian Church for 45 years. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, directed a Junior choir and directed the adult choir for 34 years. She loved music and directed many community cantatas as well.. The North Sandy choir under her direction, sang at many functions also.

She was a member of the North Sandy Missionary Society for many years.

She was also a Den mother for the cub scouts that her sons participated in. 

She later attended Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church for a number of years until going to reside at St Pauls. Over the years she and her husband hosted many Bible Studies in their home . They loved their family, their many friends and loved their neighborhood.   They made new friends often as they shared their love for others in the Lakeview Community. 

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers Donald Amon and John Amon as well as two sisters, Joan Jones and an infant sister Mary Amon.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 11am at the Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church, 3096 Sandy Lake - Grove City Road, Sandy Lake.  The interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Twp. where Jean will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband .  

Friends may call on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 4 to 8pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home, Ltd. 169 Second Street, Fredonia and additional viewing will be at the Church on Wednesday from 10am to 11am time of service
