E. Duane Snyder. Hughey Road, Greenville (Otter Creek Twp.) passed away Wednesday evening, April 11, 2018 at the Avalon Springs Nursing Center, Mercer He was 92
He was born on December 31, 1925 in Greenville a son of the late Elmer S and Martha (McCorkle) Snyder. On March 12, 1945 he married the former Pearl L. Kitch who preceded him in death on February 18, 2009.
Duane had been employed with the former Sharon Steel Corp. for over 38 years from which he had retired. He was a member of the Jerusalem Christian Church, Greenville and had served with the U.S. Navy during W.W. Ii as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class aboard the USS Carter Hall in the Pacific Theatre. Duane was honored to have participated in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.. Duane’s life was centered around his family and he always looked forward to and enjoyed many frequent fishing trips to Canada. He was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge # 290, Greenville and the New Castle Consistory.
He is survived by 2 sons, William Snyder and his wife Deborah of Transfer and H. Daniel Snyder and his wife Becky of Greenville; a daughter, Margie McGuire and her husband James of Danville, OH; a brother, Ralph Donald Snyder and his wife Beverly of Hadley and a sister M. Jean Heath of Hadley. Eight Grandchildren, Jason Snyder, Shannon Gearhart, Daniel R. Snyder, Dawn Lamberton, Travis Snyder, Jodi Ricketts, Joe McGuire and Shane McGuire. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister Catherine Ann Batteiger and a brother Richard William Snyder.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Jerusalem Christian Church, 560 Donation Road, Greenville with Pastor John Canon officiating. The interment with Military honors accorded by Reynolds VFW Post #7599 will follow at the Jerusalem Cemetery. Family and friend may call on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville and at the church on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 pm.
