Dorothy Eileen Eakman, Lake Street, Stoneboro passed away peacefully at 1:40 pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Grove at Greenville. She was 80.
She was born in Stoneboro on November 24, 1938 daughter of the late David Herman and Elaine (Bowers) Burdette. Dorothy loved to have parties and cook for her family and friends when she was well. She always thought of others before herself. She loved to play bingo and going out to eat was something she enjoyed. Dorothy had called bingo at the Lakeview Manor where she had resided for several years and enjoyed cooking for her bingo players.
Dorothy’s family was her life and she loved them dearly. She was always giving gifts and wanted nothing in return, that exemplifies the type of lady that Dorothy was, thoughtful, generous, very kind and loving.
Dorothy leaves behind a sister, Lavina Mae. Varner of Hadley; two sons David Allen Varner and his wife Kathee of Greenville and Thomas Michael Varner of Fredonia; a daughter Martha Elaine Eccles and her husband Charles “Bud” of Espyville; Grandchildren, Adam Varner, Allen Varner, Valerie Reese, Thomas Varner and Angela Varner. She also leaves behind several great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and three very close and dear friends, Karen Blair, Millie Roll and Linda Clark that she appreciated for their friendship and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel G. Eakman whom she had adored, a sister Nancy Lee Shepard; 2 nieces Vicki Lynn Varner and Brenda Lee Shepard.
Dorothy was a treasure and anyone who knew her is blessed for it. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten by her family and friends.
