Dennis E. “Denny” Campbell, Perry Twp., Clarks Mills passed away early Thursday morning, July 11, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 67.
Denny was born in Greenville on June 28, 1952, the son of Gerald “Rip” and D. Jean (Walker) Campbell. He was a 1971 graduate of the Greenville High School and went on to serve with the U.S. Army stationed in West Germany as a Special Police during the Vietnam War. On January 10, 1974 he married the former Elizabeth M. Cresswell in Bamberg, W. Germany.
He had been employed by the former Greenville Steel Car and along with his wife went on to own and operate Camp Perry for 23 years. In 1990 he became disabled as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. In his early years he had been active in coaching for the Commodore Perry Little League and had assisted with coaching for the Commodore Perry Basketball program. He was an avid follower of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cleveland Browns. He took great pride in the 1969 Ford Mustang which he had rebuilt. He enjoyed duck hunting.
Denny had a love of life and a love for his family and many friends. He was an inspiration to all who knew him both before and following his accident. He attended the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church.
Denny, always wanted those who worked for him to enjoy the job that they were doing and strived to always make the work environment not only enjoyable but to also be a fun time. He is remembered by his family for his strong will and desire to live.
In addition to his wife Bess, he is survived by a son Ryan Campbell, Clarks Mills; three daughters, Brina Wagler and her husband Chance, Stoneboro, Casee Blackmer and her husband Paul, North East and Cara Black and her husband Raymond, Elmira, MI. His parents, Gerald ‘Rip” and Jean Campbell, Greenville; two sisters, Lori Peterson and her husband Brian, Greenville and Linnea Blake and her husband Mike, Butler, OH; a brother in law, Don Creswell and his wife Shirley of Hadley, a sister in law, Jean Cresswell, Hadley; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. Adam Stump, pastor of the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church officiating. The interment with Military Honors will follow at the Sheakleyville Cemetery.
