Darren Gruber Lackey

Darren Gruber Lackey, Clarks Mills, (Sandy Creek Twp.) passed away at 10:46 pm on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Grove City Medical Center following a brief illness.  He was 53.

He was born in Greenville on June 25, 1965 a son of Harold E. and Roberta (Gruber) Lackey.  On December 19, 2006 he married the love of his life, Lucinda Carey who survives.  He was a 1983 graduate of Lakeview High School and went on to attend Triangle Tech, obtaining an associate degree in HVAC.  He was a member of the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church.    He had been employed by Sevenson Environmental, Niagara Falls for 15 years and had previously worked for Cunningham Shaner as an HVAC Tech, Butler.  He was a sports enthusiast and avid follower of the Pirates, Steelers and the Penguins.  He enjoyed Nascar, music, sitcoms and spending time at the beach.  He was very family oriented, loved his Chevelle and his K-9 companion Logan.

In addition to his wife Cindy, he is survived by his mother, Bert Lackey of Stoneboro, two children, Decinda Williams and her husband Ryan of Pittsburgh and Alan Law and his wife Jenn of Jacksonville, FL.; 2 sisters, Dee Reynolds and her husband Marvin of Stoneboro  and Onnalee Reed and her husband Kenneth of Stoneboro; 4 grandchildren, Tyson, Reese, Dashton and Grace; 2 brother in laws, Rod Carey and Chuck Carey of Clarks Mills and a sister in law Martha Davis of Moore, OK.

He was preceded in  death by his father, Harold E. Lackey; a brother, David Carey; a sister Sarah Coon, his father and mother in law, Charles and Eileen Carey, his grandparents, Leon and Esther Gruber and Chester and Margie Lackey.

Darren’s life will be honored by his family with a private service officiated by Rev. Adam Stump, pastor of the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation has been selected as disposition.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.  Memories and condolences may be shared online with family at www.snyderfh.com

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the Good Shepard Center, Greenville.
