Cary L. “Buck” Alter, Conneautville (Beaver Twp.) passed away at 3:18 am on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 at the UPMC-Hamot, Erie. He was 63.
He was born in Meadville on February 16, 1955 a son of George and Donna Lee (Hall) Alter. He was a finish carpenter by trade having worked locally with several independent contractors. He was an amazing and talented guitarist having played in many local bands as well as bands in Texas. He was currently performing with Double Vision. He is remembered for his fun loving nature and his wit and sense of humor. He had attended Conneaut Lake High School. On May 20, 2017 he married Sherry L. Horne who survives. He was a member of Vernon Twp. Station 27 and a former member of the Meadville Eagles.
He is survived by his wife Sherry; his parents, George and Donna Lee Alter, Cochranton; 2 daughters, Sharalee Raun and her husband Jon of Conneaut Lake and Cari Lin Main of Cambridge Springs; two grandchildren, Dalton Raun and Lincoln Main; his mother in law, Evelyn Horne of Hartstown; two sister in laws, Sheryl Gleason and her husband Dan of Hartstown and Lorie Wilds and her husband Dave of Hadley. Six special cousins, Donna Rea Morrison of Cochranton, Ronald Vogt of Cochranton, Debbie Tenny of Franklin, Barb Burge of Indianapolis, IN, Dan Alter of Indiana, PA and Dee Alter of Cochranton; a niece and a nephew and his K-9 companion and partner Grady.
The funeral service will he held on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville. The interment will follow at the Geneva Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and are invited to share memories and condolences online at www.snyderfh.com.
