Albert A. Augustine, Jr. Hadley (Sandy Creek Twp.) passed away at the UPMC Hamot on Friday evening, February 15, 2019. He was 75.
He was born in Pittsburgh on July 27, 1943, a son of the late Albert and Adele (Rousch) Augustine, Sr. On April 1, 1995 he married the former Cynthia M. Kish who survives. He had been employed by the former Greenville Steel Car and later with ABC Chimney. He had owned and operated the former Augustine Italian Restaurant, Greenville.
Bert as he was known to his family and friends, was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the NRA and the Greenville ICC. His children would often refer to him as being the original ”American Picker”, traveling throughout the region to many yard sales and flea markets always in search of the next bargain. He was of the Catholic faith and had attended the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church. His family was a priority in his life and he enjoyed the times he could share with his children, grandchildren and extended family members and friends. He was multitalented and was capable of fixing most anything.
In addition to his wife Cynthia of 23 years, he is survived by three daughters, Jill Augustine Gaito and her husband Joseph of Carlisle, Eileen Augustine Nitka of Erie, Jessica Augustine Blodgett and her husband Phillip of Ft. Benning, GA.; a step son, Timothy Rodgers and his wife Christine of Hadley; a brother Mark Augustine of Pittsburgh and 5 grandchildren, Dominic and Anthony Gaito, Eugene and Shannon Nitka and Weston Blodgett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert Augustine and a sister Linda DiGregorio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 11:00 am at the St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St., Greenville, PA with Rev. V. David Foradori, Pastor, as celebrant. The interment with committal prayers will follow at the St. Michaels Roman Catholic cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville on Tuesday from 2:00 -4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service will conclude the visitation on Tuesday at 7:45 pm.
