Janet Jewell Obituary

Janet Marie Orr Jewell, Hadley, Sandy Creek Twp. passed away early Friday evening, April 12, 2024, at her residence. She was 86.

She was born in Perry Twp. on April 11, 1938, a daughter of the late Granville B. and Ruby (Boylan) Orr. On October 18, 1957, she married Gene C. Jewell who preceded her in death on August 2, 2020. She was a graduate of the first class of Commodore Perry High School in 1956. She had been employed at the A& P Store, Montgomery Wards and had been a bus driver for the Commodore Perry School District.

Mrs. Jewell had volunteered for many years as a “Grandmother” with the second-grade classes of Commodore Perry and later with the head start program. She had been active with Pack 78 as a Den leader assistant and Den Mother and had also been their treasurer. She was a member of the Sheakleyville Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her sons, Edward M. Jewell and his wife Molly and Robert W. Jewell and his wife Barb; 5 grandchildren, Amanda B Jewell Turner and her husband Dan, Krystal M. Jewell Hunsley, Paul E. Jewell, Sierra N Jewell and Kayla Jewell and a great granddaughter, Zoey M. Hunsley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Kenneth H Orr and Gerald W. Orr. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel at the Hadley Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, with Rev. Janice Good officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.
