Mary Jane (Anthony) Brocklehurst

Mary Jane Brocklehurst, N. Mills Road, Mercer (Coolspring Twp.) passed away at 1:48 am on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Avalon Springs, Mercer.  She was 78.

She was born in Troy, Ohio on February 3, 1938 a daughter of the late Cyrus Thomas and Esther Loiuse (Rubright) Anthony.  On July 2, 1959 she married John P. Brocklehurst who survives. She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking and will be remembered by her family and friends for the many cookies that she had baked and shared over the years.  Mary Jane also enjoyed playing cards, horse racing and bingo.  She always enjoyed the moments shared with her family.

In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by two sons, Harold Brocklehurst and his wife Rebecca of New Wilmington and Austin Brocklehurst and his wife Susan J. of Mercer; Two daughters, Jane Bungar of Crown and Amanda Fox of Wheatland, WY; 7 grandchildren, Michael Brocklehurst, Bryce Brocklehurst, Mindy Shaffer, John Young, Chelsey Miles, Andrea Fox and Levi Fox; 5 great grandchildren, Owen Brocklehurst, James, Nathan and Jaden Hassey and Michael Young;  5 sisters, Barbara Knapp of Mercer, Janet McChesney of Stoneboro, Doris Jean Thorpe and her husband Charles of Mercer, Karen Shaffer of Transfer and Linda Saxion and her husband Don of Texas; 3 brothers, Charles Anthony and his wife Marylyn of Clarks Mills, Donald Anthony and his wife Linda of Meadville and Raymond Anthony and his wife Helen of Meadville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gerald Anthony and three sisters, Maxine Lucas, Elizabeth Foltz and Dawna Lee Okin

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia with the Rev. Dr. Peter Dembroski, pastor of the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer officiating.  The committal service and interment will follow at the Pleasant Hills Cemetery, Jackson Twp.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 pm to 2:15 pm
