John Hostetler

John Hostetler, French Creek Twp., Cochranton went home to be with his Lord and Savior, at 11:00 am on Good Friday, April 14, 2017 at the St. Vincent Medical Center, Erie following a period of declining health.  He was 83.

He was born in Meadville, Pa. on June 8, 1933 a son of the late Henry and Fannie (Yoder) Hostetler.  On February 27, 1960, he married the former Erma Yoder who survives. 

John had been employed by Channellock, Inc., for 28 years retiring in 1996 as supervisor of the machine Shop.  He was an active member of the Pleasantview Conservative Mennonite Church.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by three sons, Mike Hostetler and his wife Verna of Sandy Lake, Bill Hostetler and his wife Marcia of Atmore, Alabama and Lynn Hostetler and his wife Robin of Mercer; a daughter Tina Knepp and her husband Ron of Sarasota, Florida.

Three sisters, Lizzie Weaver and her husband Walter of Sarasota, Florida, Sarah Bontrager of Indianapolis, Indiana and Mary Stutzman of Sandy Lake; two sister in laws, Sarah Hostetler of Ohio and Esther Hostetler of Cochranton, 5 grandchildren, Matthew Knepp, Wesley Hostetler, Luke Hostetler, Kyle Hostetler and Leah Hostetler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Henry Hostetler, Jr., Vernon Hostetler, Elmer Hostetler and William Hostetler.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Pleasantview Conservative Mennonite Church, County Line Road, Cochranton with Ministers, John Wengerd, Delbert Miller, Nathan Miller and Elmer Hostetler, Jr. officiating.  The committal service and interment will follow at the Pleasantview Conservative Mennonite Church Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 9:00 pm and may share memories and condolences with the family at www.snyderfh.com.
